I don't think there is ever a an anime couple that I love more then Ranma and Akane. To the point where a fic has to be REALLY good for me to read it, if those two arn't the pairing inside.
My sentiments exactly! :) Although I try to keep an open mind, I end up reading and keeping most Akane and Ranma fics and discarding all other pairs unless the author is good enough. I might read a Ranma-Nabiki occasionally(because I like Nabiki) but I prefer Nabiki single.
I don't really like most couples besides them. I admit I do have a wierd mini obsession over Genma + Nodoka. My favorite being his reconciliation in newRanma. Most authors seem content to villianize Genma, but I really like him for some odd reason.
I think Genma is just plain crazy when he comes to teaching styles and is extremely lazy when it comes to hardwork ie means to get money, but he's extremely diligent when it comes to Ranma's martial arts education and you'd find that he'd do almost anything for the boy.
For example, dressed up as a woman for the cat-fu incident, when he senses something might be wrong with Ranma he rushes to Ranma (look at Ranma's first day in Furinkan, it rained = he became a girl and GENMA saved him from embarassment on the first day/from Kuno/so that he could go to school as a boy on his first day by giving him hot water). Very few parents would show this close scrutiny to their children.
So although I think Genma made a lot of mistakes with Ranma, he's also trying his best to be a good father any way he knows how.
As for Nodoka, we also see that she loves her husband and her son very much. This doesn't need much explanation, her being faithful, her visits to the Tendos to see her husband and her son etc.
This is the reason why I'm all for a GenmaxNodoka pairing and the reason why I don't hate Genma at all.
